Cross Country Skiing has become a way of life in Ontario's Near North. Well groomed trails range from under a kilometre to as far as you want to to, catering to both the novice and expert alike. Thread through majestic forests and snowcaped hills and valleys. The opportunities are endless in the Near North as conditions remain remarkably constant throughout the season, sometimes right througy to the end of March. |

Alpine Skiing
The Near North's newest outdoor playground is North Bay's Laurentian Ski Hill, located in the heart of the city. A complete overhaul and redesign make it a premier facility for the casual skier and the certified fanatic alike. It offers a state of the art snowmaking system, quad chair lift, expanded skier terrain and beginner development area, snowboarding half pipe and terrain park, interpretive trail system and night skiing. In addition to all this, it also offers school programs, weekly children's and adult ski/snowboard programs. If you aren't sure about the sport, they also have rental equipment including shaped skis, snowblades, snowboards, and mountain boards. It's the area's only four season multi use recreational facility. |
